Two Thousand and One .............. << previous // next >>
Well.....it's 2001 finally. Everyone has awaited it, whether with anxious anticipation or dreadful doubt. The same fruit loops who whined and warned that the world would end in 2000 were the same fruitcakes who claimed that the Millennium REALLY started in 2001 and that THAT'S when the world was REALLY going to end. *cough cough* YEAH RIGHT. Nice try, is what I have to say to them. Why is it that so many people are so pessimistic? Shouldn't a new year be a celebrated event that is a joyous time? If it really WAS the so-called "end of the world", I don't think that it would do much good to worry like a wart over it. When the time comes, let it come, but enjoy living while you are able to. Well...since this is my very first entry this year, let me tell you about how I spent my New Year's Eve. I'm sure that you've probably heard all kinds of intriguing and insane stories of how other people spent theirs. I know I have! *Grin* Well...I spent my night rather "quietly". I went over to Maggie's place and ended up sleeping over there. We watched some television, we ate and we talked a lot. Her cute kitty, Martin, was there and I think that he's the cutest kitten (aside from Tiger, my cat who passed away, of course) Anyway, so I'm not going to go into any more details of my fun night except for that. I crashed at around 2 or 3 AM.....and I woke up at around 11 AM on New Year's Day. I had a really good time. *Smile* Right now I'm downloading the "American Pie" version that Madonna sings...and also that song "Love Never Fails" by Kathie Lee Gifford. Also, from work, I borrowed Amanda Marshall's older self-titled album. I'm addicted to all of her songs, even the ones on her "newer" album called "Tuesday's Child". I love her voice and the content of her songs. They have meaning to me, unlike other songs that I may listen to, but have simplistic lyrics. Today, I received a postcard from FLORIDA! Actually, my friend, Maggie, was on vacation there for one week (while I was getting snow here!!!!!!!!) and so, she sent it to me. Wasn't that sweet? At least she didn't send me one of those "Wish You Were Here" postcards...ARGHHH...Don't you just hate those? ESPECIALLY when you're in a colder northern climate, and the person sends you pictures of a sunny, utopian climate...hehe...Well...on the postcard, there were 4 pictures which included sunsets, a dolphin, palm trees, etc. It was very pretty. I don't know the EXACT location in Florida she went to, but from what she tells me, there are mostly old people there. She said that there were hardly any young people around. I find that pretty hard to comprehend. I think that probably she just attracted those older folks. *wink* ((GRIN))....hahaha...I'm just being a goof. Tonight, I was at work and I came across some really absurd and insanely hilarious people. There was one lady who had around $2.25 in fines on her account accumulated from late charges. Anyway, so she went on and on and on (I'm not kidding!) about how it is the library's way of (and I quote) "punishing people". I couldn't help myself from laughing. It was funny, okay? *smirk* The thing is that she was totally serious about the whole ordeal. She didn't think that it was right for her to have to pay for those charges. (Hmmm...your card....your charges....your responsibility....There seems to be a pattern emerging...Do you see it?) Anyway, so it got to the point where I was robotically explaining it the exact same way about our policies, about 3 or 4 times. SOOOOO....since that got nowhere, I went to a co-worker with higher signority and guess what? She explained it the EXACT same way and that lady argued her EXACT same argument. *What a snooze* Anyway, so eventually, after many redundant repetitions of the same story, she eventually paid, but STILL mentioned how it was a form of punishment..... (!!!) Hahaha.....WHAT A NUT! Oh well..there are worse nuts out there....at least she was a FUNNY one! *Smile* I watched "The X-Files Movie" on television the other night (or was that Tuesday)...I can't remember! My memory is going fuzzy! Geez...and I'm only 18! I hope I don't lose it when I'm so young. I take that statement back. I hope that I don't lose it AT ALL! *smirk* Very important correction! Hehe. Anyway...I remember seeing that movie in the theatres with my friends when it first came out. While some critics say that it wasn't great, I thought it was okay. If you like and watch the television show, then you'll like the movie. It's exactly like an episode, only it's longer. Well...today, my friend called me up and invited me to go to that restaurant, "Jack Asters" (pronounced exactly how it is spelled - Jack ASS-ters) for lunch tomorrow, but I really don't feel up for it. The name of that place just sounds so degrading and I don't feel like being at such a place. It's as low as going to purchase a hamburger at some McDonalds food chain. I don't eat any McDonalds food, after I had an inside tour of the kitchen a long time ago, while on a summer camp trip. *EWWWIE* I don't want to publish what I know because some of you may be eating there, and it wouldn't be nice of me to make you vomit your yearly worth of McDonalds. *BARFFFFFF* yuck. I am going to change the subject. McDonalds makes me SICKKKKKKK......... Well...I have re-designed a new welcome page for my website *~* The Mystic Realm *~*. I still kinda like the red one much better because it is more dramatic, but I need a change. I might revert back to the red one. Who knows? Anyway...I'm not a huge fan of Nick or Jessica, but I liked that picture a lot (mainly because of the colour), and I wanted to experiment with my splash page. Well...go to my webpage and tell me what you think. Should I have kept the Buffy layout? Okay, well...I've gotta get going now...I've just caught some friends on ICQ. Take care and always remember to SPREAD THE SUNSHINE!!!!!!! ~*~ MARY SHAW ~*~
