Superstitious Today? .............. << previous // next >>

Friday October 13th, 2000. - 8:25 PM

Dear Diary,

Today is actually Friday October 13th. Some people are all foolish and get caught up with this whole insane ideology that today is an "unlucky day". What rubbish, if ever I heard it. It’s just a number. It really bugs me how some people get so caught up with superstitions and such, that they just let it take over who they are. I mean, I think it’s really silly to knock on wood so that "good luck" will come your way. Why is it bad if a black kitty crosses your path? All of these phony little things have people worrying about this and worrying about that. Well...I’m not really superstitious and hey……guess what????? Nothing bad happened to me today. It was just like any other Friday. Whoop-dee-do...

Alright, so in my religion literature class, we were watching The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe movie. I saw it before in elementary school and now that I look back and watch it again, it makes me laugh. It’s really corny. The actors and actresses make it seem so terribly fake. Ohh…and Lucy (in the movie) is sooooooo incredibly irritating!!!!! UGHHH! To me, she seems so whiney. In this class, we are supposed to read the entire Chronicles of Narnia. I finished the first book ( The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe), and I’m halfway finished reading "The Magician’s Nephew". That’s the second book in the series...or so my teacher says. My brother has the entire set from when he was younger, and according to that one, "Prince Caspian" is supposed to be the second book in the series. Oh well...I’ll end up reading all of them, anyway. They’re actually quite fun to read. I like reading all those children’s fantasy literature….My favourite stories (off the top of my head right now) are: The Wizard of Oz, The Neverending Story, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe and Alice in Wonderland.

Okay, so today, I wrote my Finite Quiz on Chapter 4. I think that I did very well! This was the second quiz this week in that class, and I did fairly well on both. I remember that on the last question, I was almost stumped. I got some strange number for the value of n and I kept on erasing it. I did something so similar to that in my homework, so it really REALLY frustrated me when I got this one wrong. Then, I checked all my other answers and then came back to this question again. THEN, it hit me that I should sub in 84 for tn ... and then *boom* I got the answer and then plugged it into the second part of the problem…and I’m pretty sure that I got the right answer. Now, in Calculus, I’m understanding all the applications of derivatives. It makes sense now. In the previous chapter, when we were just FINDING the derivatives,...that was BORING. Now that I’m learning how to APPLY them, it makes it more interesting. I’m going to study my notes and do lots of problems this weekend. My test in Calculus is on Wednesday…Oh…and it just so happens that my Finite Test is ALSO on the same day. I’m not too concerned about Finite, because I understand that course much better than Calculus. I actually ENJOY that course! *Smile* The teacher is excellent. She explains concisely and doesn’t try to use confusing notations. She’s very easy to understand. Calculus, on the other hand is a whole other story, but I’m not going to get into that right now.

Y’know that song "Look At Us Now" by Serena Paris? It’s a dance song. Well….it’s really getting trapped into my mind. I find myself humming it everywhere...no matter where I am! I can’t seem to help it. It’s so catchy and I just love how spunky it sounds. It’s message basically says, "Hey...remember me and my boyfriend? Well...you said that we wouldn’t last, but look at us now! We’re together still and so much in love." Of course those are not the lyrics to the song. It’s just me, paraphrasing them. Even though I absolutely ADORE the song, I HAVE to get it out of my head, before I annoy myself! Hahaha...ahhhhhh! Also, the song by those Backstreet Boys (Shape of My Heart) is playing over and over and over in my head. I’m not a fan of the Backstreet Boys, but that one song kinda gets to me. I really love the chorus part.

Hey...you know what I was thinking? That singer named Pink reminds me so much of my good friend, Maggie (well...Magdalena). It’s like...all her features are the same. My friend Maggie has really short hair just like Pink, although, she didn’t dye it pink (she dyed it black). They both seem outrageous and fun to be around. Anyway...I know that this entry wasn't as interesting as I wanted it to be.....but I better end it now and get off this computer soon. Take care and keep on SPREADING THE SUNSHINE!!!!!!!!!!
